The Histotechnologist will receive, inspect and validated incoming samples.
- Scan samples into databases
- Label and route specimens to the correct department or
second lab
- Sample pre-analytic, analytic and post-analytic processing
- Working knowledge of Histology techniques such as tissue structure
for minor grossing, wet tissue
processing into FFPE blocks. FFPE block sectioning onto slides.
Tissue slide staining both automated platforms and manual for
routine and special stains, and bone decalcification.
- Must like and have good working knowledge of be able to use
computers proficiently.
- Must be motivated, have good communication skills and be able to
prioritize workload to meet deadlines.


- Process daily sames prior to end of day and to meet deadlines
- Assist other team members to complete work prior to end of
- Maintain accurate paper work and audit trail for samples
- Flexibility on duties and hours. Saturday rotation required
Perform daily QC and maintenance of equipment and control
- To be able to work indivudally OR as part of the team


- Must hold a current Histotechnologist licence and be qualitifed
by completion of a certified histotechnologist program (HT or
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university
with a combination of 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of
biology and chemistry AND
- successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician or
Histotechnology program within the last 5 years
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university
with a combination of 30 semester hours(45 quarter hours) of
biology and chemistry AND
- one year full time acceptable experience in histopathology
laboratory in the U. S., Canada, or a CAP/(JCAHO) accredited
laboratory within the last ten years. This year of experience must be
under the supervision of a pathologist or an appropriately board
certified medical scientist.
• 60 semester hours from an accredited institution that include the
1) 12 semester hours of biology courses, which are pertinent to the
medical sciences
2) 12 semester hours of chemistry (at least 6 semester hours of
Inorganic Chemistry)
- HT or HTL course completion, with eligibility to take HT or HTL
• Associates degree from a regionally accredited college/university
with a combination of 12 semester hours in biology and chemistry
• One year documented laboratory training or experience in
histopathology with HT or HTL certification


Candidate must:
- Have at least 8 months experience in FFPE and frozen tissue
block sectioning, wet tissue processing, minor tissue grossing, good
working knowledge of tissue orientation for embedding of a variety of
tissue types.
- Must have good working knowledge of computers and be able to
learn and utilize computer software quickly.- Ambitious

- Able to balance 70% of histotogy lab benchtime processing samples, 30% documentation, paperowrk and sample accessioning/entering patient data for samples via computer, .
- Excellent communicato, verbal and written skills
- Proficient in computers and use of computers
- Able to work as part of a team and indpendently
- Able to work in a fast pace enviroment
