    Covance has a job opening for a Pharmacy Manager II at our Madison, WI facility. This role is a great way to advance your career in a clinical environment.

    Responsible for management, administration, and organization of a Pharmacy team as well as providing an information service and knowledge base on the pharmaceutical aspects of clinical trials at all stages in their design and implementation in clinical research. In addition, he/she will be accountable for the development and/or maintenance of facilities and processes to ensure preparation and dispensing of investigational compounds is performed to the appropriate standards.


    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Performs supervisory duties including but not limited to interviewing, hiring, training, intervention, discipline, and discharge of staff.
    • Coaches and mentors staff including initiating and implementing appropriate staff development programs. Meets with staff on a routine basis to review goals and individual development plans.
    • Motivates team to complete high quality work efficiently.
    • Schedules team workflow and allocates work to staff to meet deadlines, ensures that staff levels are appropriate to accomplish workload
    • Overall responsibility for assuring timeliness and quality of work for studies for entire team
    • Organizes, chairs, and records minutes for all meetings or delegates these responsibilities appropriately.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.


    • Registered Pharmacist/Pharm D in applicable state.
    • Appropriate certification in required specialty, for example RPH or Board Certified Nuclear.



    • 2-3 years in a leadership role, guiding and mentoring other staff.
    • Previous experience supervising or managing a group.
    • 5-10 years related pharmacy practice experience.
    • Research or Research Pharmacist experience a big plus.
    • Understanding of Sterile Manipulation as required per USP <797>
      • At least 1 year experience in clean room manipulations.
    • Understanding of Non-Sterile Manipulation as required per USP <795>
    • Open to learn about GCP and GMP requirements in the role of a pharmacist in a clinical research environment.
