    In this role, you will perform necropsy and/ or histology tasks on a variety of laboratory animals in compliance with the appropriate SOPs, GLPs, and regulatory guidelines. In addition, you’ll monitor animal health and welfare in compliance with the Animal Health and Welfare Act and help maintain facilities for AAALAC compliance 

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Trim wet tissues
    • Embed tissues into paraffin
    • Performs duties of necropsy and/or histology
    • Performs necropsy and/or histology study responsibilities
    • Report all animal care concerns and become involved in the resolution and appropriate corrective action, when necessary

    Education/Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences, or Associate Degree in Histology, Laboratory Animals Technology or Veterinary Technology; Experience may substitute for education
    • At least two years’ experience in a position similar to a Study Technician
    • Certification as a Histology Technician by ASCP or an AALAS certification at the Laboratory Animal Technician level is desirable
    • Well versed with animal anatomy

    Note: We offer a training program to prepare for HT (ASCP) certification

    Experience

    • 2-4 years of related experience
    • Proven sustained performance
    • Demonstrated skills necessary to effectively mentor basic lab tasks and study execution
    • Verbal and written communication skills
    • Demonstrates teamwork and leadership skills
    • Data documentation and QC skills
    • Problem solving skills
    • Ability to structure and manage workloads without direct supervision
