    Covance has a job opening for a Data Mining Analyst FP&A, office based located in Indianapolis. 

     

    Responsibilities of the data mining analyst include:

    Discovering patterns, trends and information in large datasets for the use in the preparation of the annual operating budget and monthly forecasts. Datasets exist in multiple systems and databases, requiring the analyst to harmonize and consolidate information across several platforms. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access and Data Mining software, such as Oracle Data Mining, SAP Business Objects, IBM Cognos, Salesforce Analytics and/or other applications is required.

     

    The Data Mining Analyst has the following primary responsibilities:

     

    • Create, communicate and provide analytical support of key Covance Central Laboratory volume drivers of revenue
    • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies to facilitate a deeper insight into business performance and support decision-making processes 
    • Implement large-scale data ecosystems including data management, governance and the integration of structured and unstructured data to generate insights 
    • Solve complex analytical problems using quantitative approaches with a blend of analytical, mathematical and technical skills through navigation of various systems 
    • Assist in the preparation of the global annual budget and monthly forecasts 
    • Foster a signature client service focus in the performance of all business unit decision support activities to ensure the adequacy and timeliness of information provided, and to maintain positive relationships with all internal business partners

    Education/Qualifications

    Required: BA or BS degree in Business, IT, Finance, Accounting, or related field

    Experience

    • 5+ years’ experience of large data mining analysis supporting IT/finance/accounting/business functional areas required
    • Extensive knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Excel, Access and PowerPoint
    • Excellent technical and analytical capabilities that turns data into actionable information
    • Highly motivated, takes initiative, has excellent planning and organization skills
    • Ability to convey ideas clearly and effectively in written and verbal communications
    • Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of management and non-management staff
